In the 2025 film Together, Dave Franco and Alison Brie brought the world a strange and unique horror film. Today, I will give you the run down of this film, the ups and downs, and what else this film has to offer.
According to IMDb, the plot of this movie is: “Years into their relationship, Tim (Dave Franco) and Millie (Alison Brie) find themselves at a crossroads as they move to the country. With tensions already flaring, an encounter with an unnatural force threatens to corrupt their lives, their love and their flesh.”
I really loved how beautiful this movie was; some of the shots were very intricate and made especially for a film of this manner. Another aspect of this movie that I love is that in real life, Dave Franco and Alison Brie are married, so I feel as though their chemistry (and lack thereof) was interesting to see how good of an actor each of them are. If you didn’t know that, then the movie will only show you how much the characters do not love each other and how distant they are. However, once learning of the relationship between the two actors, their chemistry is evident because of their ability to act as if they do not have love for one another.
Moving on, once watching this film, you always take things deeper than the director/writer means. Tim’s mother was severely mentally ill, and that played a big part in the movie. Whenever Tim would suggest that he felt something was wrong, he felt like something happened to him, etc., Alison would suggest that he was possibly developing a mental illness like his mother. He was distant, on edge, and never wanted to hear of the possibility that he could be mentally ill when discussing what had happened to him.
I don’t want to give much away about this film, but I genuinely think this film was beautiful and predictable, though still a great watch. This was such a unique horror film; I have never seen something like this, and it had such a great ending that just made sense for the characters. Some people might not like this film, though, because of the predictability, lack of an unpredictable plot twist, and because of some of the “unneeded” details within the film that just took on an “unnecessary” trail.
All in all, I think Together was a great film, a beautiful film, and a film that was so unique that no other horror film has done this before. If you wanted my opinion, I would tell you to watch it right now, and let me know what you think! Together brings an uncomfortable kind of feeling to the film industry, but such a creepy vibe that it was fantastic to me!
